Near Fine (see description) John Tenniel, with Colouring By Harry Theaker and Diz Wallis
Not Signed
----------2 volumes, hardcovers, about 7.25 x 9.75 inches, both are Near Fine copies in Near Fine dustjackets, both in uniform format and condition, both look close to new, both are housed in a lightly rubbed Near Fine slipcase which is also bedecked with Tenniel illustrations, cover illustration for W'Land shows Alice talking to the Cheshire Cat, cover for Glass shows Alice talking with Humpty-Dumpty, a lovely set with all colour illustrations, Tenniel's original illos were in b&w but Macmillan issued an edition in 1911 with 16 coloured illustrations with the colouring done by Theaker, Macmillan then commissioned Wallis to colour all the remaining illos, In both instances the artist coloured proofs taken from the original wood blocks so that their colouring remains faithful to Tenniel's original drawings, as well this edition retains the original positioning (as much as possible) of the illustrations as agreed by Tenniel and Carroll from the 1st editions, this edition also contains Christmas Greetings / 'to all child-readers of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland’ which was inserted as a leaflet in the 1871 Christmas issue / Wasp in a Wig which Carroll intended to appear in THROUGH / An Easter Greeting which was omitted from the 1897 edition, any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and NOT a generic photo

----------hardcover, about 10.25 x 10.25 inches, a Near Fine copy in a Near Fine dustjacket with a wee bit of very light rubbing, looks new, no writing in the book, a lovely book with stunning artwork throughout, Basset was filmed and re-titled Voyage of the Unicorn and starred Beau Bridges, ---"In the tradition of such favorite classics as Gulliver's Travels and Journey to the Center of the Earth, Voyage of the Basset takes the reader on a fantastical journey of discovery. Through richly detailed full-color paintings and line drawings, magical kingdoms emerge from a sea of dreams. --Cassandra Aisling, who is nine years and eleven months old, doesn't care “a jot” about what sensible people think. She likes strange, mysterious, and magical things. So when her world gets tumbled upside down, she boards the H.M.S. Basset, ready to explore the landscape of her imagination. Pledging allegiance to the Basset's motto, “Credendo do Vides…Believing is Seeing,” Cassandra, her skeptical older sister Miranda, and their father, Professor Algernon Aisling, set out in search of the ancient legends. From the flickering flight of fairies and the mermaids' siren songs to a labyrinth-bound Minotaur and a fire-breathing dragon, the Aisling family witnesses firsthand the wonder of mythological worlds. --In this lavishly illustrated edition, Cassandra's adventures intertwine with her father's scientific scribblings to present both new tales and the essence of classical myths. From the two voices, readers learn the power of imagination, the importance of believing in oneself, the value of family, and the need for creative, cooperative problem-solving. The story of a magical journey and the exquisite fantasy artwork will appeal to young and old alike."---, any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo

-----------hardcover, a Near Fine copy, in a Very Good+ lightly rubbed dustjacket, ---"The Vicar Of Nibbleswicke was written by Roald Dahl in the last months of his life. In a typical act of generosity he donated the story (and Quentin Blake's illustrations) for the benefit of the Dyslexia Institute. Reverend Lee is so worried about being in charge of his own parish for the first time that his childhood dyslexia comes back, in the form of a strange speech defect. He doesn't realize he's doing it, but key words come out of his mouth backwards. The parishioners are amused and later shocked at the garbled messages from the pulpit until finally a cure is found: the Vicar of Nibbleswicke must walk backwards for the rest of his life.
